How the tracker works

Booked & Beautiful is built around a few simple ideas: keep your library organised, log progress as you read, and look back at the year in books. This guide explains every status, field and feature in a few minutes.

1. Shelves are statuses

Every book lives on one of four shelves:

• Want to Read — your TBR, the books you plan to pick up next.
• Reading — books you have started but not finished.
• Read — finished books. When you mark a book as Read, its progress is automatically set to 100%.
• DNF — Did Not Finish. Use this for books you put down intentionally. You can also record why in the journal fields.

2. Track progress by pages or percentage

Each book has a total page count and a pages-read count. If you know the page you are on, enter it directly. If you are reading on Kindle or Kobo and only see a percentage, switch the progress toggle to "%" and type the percentage — the tracker calculates the equivalent page count for you.

3. Add books quickly with search

Tap the search box when adding a book and start typing the title or author. The tracker looks up metadata from Google Books and fills in the title, author, genre, page count and cover automatically.

4. Rate, review and journal

Beyond the basics, you can add a star rating, a short review or notes, and extra journal fields. For romance and fantasy titles you will see options for spice level (from half a pepper to five peppers), tropes, favourite quotes, and DNF reasons if applicable.

5. Import your existing library

If you are coming from Goodreads or StoryGraph, export your library as a CSV and import it in one go. The importer matches common column names and preserves ratings, shelves and finish dates.

6. Watch your year in books

The dashboard shows how many books you have read, your progress toward a yearly goal, pages read this year, and breakdowns by genre and format. The calendar highlights finish dates, and Premium users can generate a 9:16 monthly wrap-up to share on Instagram Stories.

7. Need help?

If something looks off, check that the book status matches your progress. A book marked as Read should have its total pages as pages read; a book marked as Reading should have fewer pages than the total. Adjusting either number updates the percentage automatically.
