Track your Kindle and Kobo reading by percentage

E-readers rarely tell you the page you are on — they tell you 37%. This guide shows how to turn that percentage into a reliable reading log without guessing.

Why e-reader progress is awkward to log

Kindle and Kobo re-flow text depending on your font size, so the "page" you see is not the page in the printed edition. Location numbers are worse: they mean nothing outside the device. Percentage is the one number that is consistent, so it is the best thing to log.

The simple method

1. Add the book and let the search fill in the printed page count (this is your reference length).
2. When you stop reading, note the percentage your e-reader shows.
3. Log that percentage — the tracker converts it into pages for you.
4. Your yearly page totals, streaks and stats stay accurate across paper and digital books.

Tips for accurate e-book stats

• Prefer the printed page count over the e-book estimate — it is comparable between editions.
• Front matter and appendices inflate percentages slightly; do not chase perfection.
• Set the format to E-book so you can later see how much you read on screen versus paper.
• Marking a book as Read automatically fills pages read to 100%.

Audiobooks work the same way

Audiobook apps also report percentage. Use the same toggle: log the percentage listened and the tracker keeps your totals consistent with the rest of your library.
